Printable Greeting Cards.

In this tutorial we will be making a Quarter-fold Greeting Card creating our content in PSP and then using Print Layout (Multiple Image Printing in PSP 7) to layout and print our card.

1.  Create a New canvas. (Click File|| New [Ctrl+N])

Width = 306 pixels (4.25 inches at 72 dpi)
Height = 396 pixels (5.5 inches at 72 dpi)
Resolution = 72.00 pixels
Background = Raster
Color Depth = 16 Million Colors (24 Bit)
Color = Transparent Checked

2.  Duplicate the image 3 times (Duplicate (Windows || Duplicate [Shift+D]). On one name the layer Top Right, on another name the layer Top Left, on another name the layer Bottom Right, and on the last one name the layer Bottom Left. This will help avoid confusion.

3.  On the Top Right layer place the image and/or text you want to appear on the Inside Left of the card. When you are done adding and arranging Click Layers || Merge || Merge Visible. Click Image || Rotate || Free Rotate (Ctrl+R) 180 degrees. Edit || Cut (Ctrl+X) then Edit || Paste || Paste as a new layer (Ctrl+L) this will center the content. Click Layers || Merge || Merge Visible. Minimize this image for now.  (Note:  You don 't have to rotate the image here you can do it in Print Layout or Multiple Image Printing)

4.  On the Top Left layer place the image and text you want to appear on Inside Right of the card.

5.  On the Bottom Right layer place what you want to appear on the front of the card. When you are done adding and arranging Click Layers || Merge || Merge Visible. Edit || Cut (Ctrl+X) and Edit || Paste || Paste as a new layer (Ctrl+L). Click Layers || Merge || Merge Visible. Minimize this image for now.

6.  On the Bottom Left layer place what you want to appear on the back of the card. When you are done adding and arranging Click Layers || Merge || Merge Visible. Edit || Cut (Ctrl+X) and Edit || Paste || Paste as a new layer (Ctrl+L). Click Layers || Merge || Merge Visible. Minimize this image for now.

7.  Now for the magic. Click File Print Layout. This will open the Print layout window and your images should be on the left.

8.  Drag the image that goes on the Front of the card from the left to the page on the right. Click the Place Lower Right button in the button bar.

9.  Drag the image that goes on the Back of the card to the page then click the Place Lower Left button.

10.  Drag the image that goes on the Inside Left of the card to the page and click the Place Upper Left button.  (Note:  If you did not rotate the image when you created it you can rotate it here).

11.  Drag the image that goes on the Inside Right of the card to the page and click the Place Upper Right button.  (Note:  If you did not rotate the image when you created it you can rotate it here).

12.  Load the paper you want you to print on into the printer. I use Card Stock.

13.  Click the Print button or Click File || Print.

14.  Click File || Close Print Layout. Save the print template if you wish.

15.  Save your images if you want to use them in the future to make other cards. I would save them as psp files to maintain the transparency without reducing the number of colors.

Folding:

1.  Fold the top half back.

2.  Fold the left half back.

That's it I hope you enjoyed this tutorial.
