Quick Quilt

I know there are hundreds of quilt tutorials for PSP. For those of
you who don't know me my tutorials are not so much as to produce a finished
product but more to help learn seldom used tools while at the same time
obtaining a finished product. With that said the tools used are Grids,
Canvas Size (much easier the add borders and you don't have to merge
your layers), Flood Fill (I know flood fill is used widely but when
was the last you changed it's options?), and Zoom. There are other tools
used also.
To save time I am using hot keys for copy and paste. Ctrl+C means hold
down your Ctrl key and press the C keys. The Menu equivalents are below:
Ctrl+C=Edit>Copy
Ctrl+E=Edit>Paste>Paste as New Selection
This tutorial was written in PSP 8 but you should be able to do it
in PSP 7. You will need this file which contain selections for
both PSP 7 and PSP 8 and the 2 fills I used. quickquilt.zip
1. Open from 1-16 (there are 16 blocks) images sized at 100x100. For
this quilt I am using 2 plaid fills I made earlier. (Note: I had a purple
plaid fill already sized at 100x100 I duplicated it and used Colorize
to make a matching pink one).
2. Open>New Image 400x400 Transparent
3. Click View>Change Grid and Guide Properties
4. Set Current Image Settings to Horizontal Grids 100 Pixels, Vertical
Grids 100, Snap Influence 50 and click OK. If you don't see anything
don't worry just click on View>Grid. (Note in
PSP 7 there isn't "Current image settings" just change the
default settings to what I have here. Make sure you Check Snap
to Grid here because you don't have the option on your view menu).
5. Click View>Snap to Grid.
6. Select one of the 100x100 images you have open and Ctrl+C
7. Change back to your new canvas and Ctrl+E move your mouse to the
block you want image in (it should automatically line up with the guides)
once it has snapped to the correct block left click to place it.
8. Repeat Steps 6-7 until all 16 blocks are filled. Selections>Select
None (Ctrl+D).

9. Turn the Grid and Snap to Grid off by Clicking on View>Grid
and View>Snap to Grid
10. Image>Canvas Size Width and Height 500 pixels. Click the center
box (for PSP 7 Top, Left, Bottom, and Right are 50).
11. You have a choice now you can Use your Magic Wand and select the
transparent area around the quilt blocks and fill it with a color or
pattern of your choice OR you can load the extra selections that I included
in the zip file and fill each selection with a color, gradient, or pattern
of your choice. For this quilt I did it the easy way and used one solid
color (#C626C8).

12. Selections>Load/Save Selections>Load from Disk and choose
the quiltbevel selection from where you saved it.
13. Effects>3D Effects>Inner Bevel with these settings. Bevel
#2, Width 20, Smoothness and Depth 2, Ambience 8, Shininess 0, Color
White, Angle 315, Intensity 40 and Elevation 36.

14. Selections>Load/Save Selections>Load from Disk and choose
the stitches selection from where you saved it.
15. Click your Flood Fill Tool with the following tool Options: Match
Mode None, Blend Mode Normal, and Opacity 100 (Note it is very important
that Match Mode is set to none or you will have to click in each stitch
to fill it with it set to none you just have to click in 1 stitch to
fill them all).
16. Choose a color for your stitches. I chose #8B26C2
17. Zoom in on your image (it is easiest to hit the + sign on the number
key pad. I hit mine 7 times).
18. Click inside one of the selections to fill the stitches. View>Zoom>Zoom
to 100% (Ctrl+Alt+N).
19. That's it Resize and Sharpen and/or Save it.
